code::XtremeApps:: 2012

We have successfully completed yet another code::XtremeApps:: competition

This year’s competition challenged the teams and individuals to develop innovative applications that will impact the Silver Generation positively.

As in previous years, the code::XtremeApps:: comprises 2 categories

- Junior for 11 years and under

- Open for students , working professional and anyone who is interested in programming and building innovative applications

The code::XtremeApps:: Programming Competition 2012 closed with the prize presentation which was held on 23 August at the NTU@one-north Executive Centre Auditorium. The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Mr Gerard Ee, Chairman, Council for Third Age.

Open Category Competition

The challenge to this year's competition participants is to build a web or mobile applications using HTML5 and the solution should adapt to at least 2 distinctly difference devices. Another challenge which participants need to include in their competition entries is a business plan for their solutions.

The winners of this year's code::XtremeApps:: Open Category Competition are:

1st Prize

Team: Terabytes (Singapore Management University)

Members: Jeremy Zhong, Henry Tang and  Lee Xiang Rui

2nd Prize

Team: ThinkLearnCode

Members: Gi Soong Chee, Heng U San and Lai Wui Shing

3rd Prize

Team: Aardvark

Members:  Stephan February and Fazli Mansor

Special Prize

Team: SilverLife (Temasek Polytechnic)

Members: Calvin Che, Lee Jin Wei and Soon Kai Siang

 

Junior Category Competition

Participants of the Junior Category Competition were children of age 11 years and under. The participating teams had to create their own fun and creative stories, games or applications using Scratch software (http://scratch.mit.edu/) based on a very interesting tagline:

“Grandma, Grandpa, come sit with me,

Look what I have created for you!

Scratching can be Xtreme fun,

Let me show you what I’ve done!””

The winners of this year's Junior Category Competition are:

 

1st Prize

2nd Prize

Team: Susisters (Madrasah Al-Irsyad)

Members: L’Kesh Nair, Madhu Saadhikaa Shashitraren and Cheng Wei Ler

ScratchABLE (Home School)
